Welcome to our Kid’s Place Family Daycare website! We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child. In this family daycare, besides the care we provide to your child we also have a preschool program from 9am to 12noon. We will work on self-help skills, small and large motor skills, letter and number recognition, communication, and several other cognitive and social skills. We will cover these areas using a variety of methods to ensure that learning is always fun and interesting for your child.
Our Classroom
Our classroom is theme based, meaning every month has a theme and every day we discuss a different topic pertaining to that theme. We will integrate this theme into most activities throughout the day.
We also concentrate on letters of the alphabet every month. The letters of the month are displayed in our classroom. We work on recognizing these letters, practice pronouncing them, we'll try writing them, and naming things that begin with the letters of the month. We will be learning Spanish words, greetings, colors, numbers and shapes every day.
Our classroom is divided into several areas: Dramatic Play, Art and Writing, Sensory/Science, Literacy, Music and movements and a quiet Reading area. During “Free Play” the children may choose the area in which they want to play. They may switch areas at any time. The children learn to keep toys in their areas, pick up after themselves, respect each other, and work together.
Our Food
All food preparation is handled in accordance with accepted safety practices. Meals are served family style. We use mealtimes as a perfect opportunity to practice good manners such as saying “please” and “thank you”, not interrupting others when they are talking, chewing with mouths closed, etc.
Each day children are served breakfast, AM snack, lunch and PM snack at no additional charge. Although the children may have special snacks, they are served in addition to the required foods. Due to recent USDA recommendations, we very rarely will serve fruit juices of any kind.
